Spring is in the air – some days more than others. Trees are starting to bud and blossom and the chill of winter has finally receded into our recent memory. As we savor and endure the change of seasons, as the days grow longer and birds and insects come out to play, Allegro is taking a well deserved rest after the bulk of our season and before our exciting summer festival.
As you peruse Allegro’s upcoming concerts, you may notice something missing: repertoire for our first concert of the summer: Summer Surprise! No, that’s not an accident. We want to present something unique: a concert that challenges our audience’s expectations and invites our beloved friends and community members to join us in this experiment.
While we aren’t announcing the repertoire directly, we do want to give our audience something to look forward to; something to engage with leading up to this event. So, with an eye towards mystery and a sense of anticipation, we’ll be offering clues and opportunities to win tickets to a future concert! The first clue reads as follows:
Plucked from Lowestoft memories, recalled and refined by the adult mind;
A gallery of the composer’s youth on the North Sea;
Four passageways to explore:
Sprightly strings, bouncing bourrées, a moment of contemplation, and a final frolic..
